Four Uttarakhand Tax Officials Arrested in Shimla Valuables Theft
Police say valuables worth more than Rs 1 crore were stolen from a hotelier’s home in Shimla.

She then allegedly left with three associates and many valuables.

At a border checkpoint, four Uttarakhand government personnel allegedly stopped them.
Police say those personnel kept some of the stolen items instead of handing them over.
The four personnel were arrested in Rudrapur.
Police recovered nearly 80% of the stolen property and are looking for the rest.
Four Uttarakhand Excise and Taxation Department personnel were arrested in Rudrapur over valuables worth more than Rs 1 crore stolen from a Shimla hotelier’s residence.
Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand police jointly arrested the accused and recovered nearly 80% of the stolen jewellery and other valuables.
The arrested personnel were identified as Sub-Inspector Devendra Kumar, Constable Baljeet Singh, and PRD Constables Naeem and Pappu Lal.
Police allege the personnel intercepted the suspected thieves but kept much of the stolen property and allowed the maid and her associates to escape toward Nepal.
The theft was reported on September 8 after the maid allegedly sedated the employer on September 7 and fled with jewellery, watches, silver coins and cash.
