University of Mumbai Seeks NIEPA Assessment of NEP 2020
The University of Mumbai is a big university in India with many colleges connected to it.
The Indian government made a new education plan called NEP 2020.
This plan lets students learn many different subjects instead of just one.
The University of Mumbai has been following this plan for a few years.
It asked a special group called NIEPA to check how well it is doing.
The leader of the university, Ravindra Kulkarni, says they are doing very well.
Many more colleges are now allowed to make their own choices.
Students can take many different classes, like science, art, and business.
The university also works with groups that help communities.
NIEPA will look at what is working and what needs to be better.
University of Mumbai has appealed to NIEPA to conduct an impact assessment of NEP 2020 implementation at the university.
Vice-chancellor Ravindra Kulkarni said Mumbai University has made significant progress in NEP implementation compared to other state universities.
Autonomous colleges affiliated with the university increased from 62 in 2023 to 135 currently.
The university offers 516 open elective courses and has signed 104 MoUs with NGOs for community engagement initiatives.
