AP drawing Krishna water without KRMB nod: Harish Rao · thehansindia.com

BRS leader T. Harish Rao says Andhra Pradesh is taking water from the Krishna River through Nagarjunasagar’s Right Canal.

He says this happened before the water board gave permission.

Andhra Pradesh had asked for 47 TMC of water, but no decision had been made.

Harish Rao wants the Krishna River Management Board to stop the drawal.

He says the canal and project are managed by Telangana.

He blamed Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for not acting strongly enough.

Harish Rao also alleged that Andhra Pradesh was taking 11 TMC from Srisailam through the Veligonda tunnel.

He said the drawal was especially serious because drought conditions had begun.

The articles report Harish Rao’s allegations and do not include responses from Andhra Pradesh or the Telangana government.

“It is shameful that AP officials have once again resorted to high-handedness at the Nagarjunasagar project in Nalgonda district. The dam is under Telangana’s control. Today’s developments also are proof of how incapable Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is, who instead of protecting Krishna waters that Telangana is entitled to, is watching like a spectator while AP takes water away”

“When the Three-Member Committee has not taken any decision on the allocation, how can Andhra Pradesh officials start drawing water? How did they get the confidence to take water without the permission of the KRMB? Why did they not even wait for the Committee’s decision?”
