Indian Railways Approves Single All India Container Train Licence

Indian Railways is the organisation that runs the big train network in India.

Before, companies that carried shipping containers on trains had to get many different permissions to use different railway lines.

Now they only need one big permission, called an All India licence, to use the whole railway network.

This makes it easier for companies to grow their train business.

New companies will pay the same registration fee of ₹25 crore.

If a company does a good job for 20 years, it can keep going for another 20 years without paying extra fees.

Companies that already carry containers can keep their old agreements.

Some of them can switch to the new single licence by paying a smaller extra fee.

Because it becomes easier and cheaper to move goods by train, businesses may save money, and fewer trucks on the roads could mean less traffic and cleaner air.
