India and Kuwait Launch Defence Committee to Strengthen Military Ties
India and Kuwait held their first meeting of a new defence committee.
The meeting took place in New Delhi on Friday.
Both countries want to work more closely on defence matters.
Their plans include military training, exercises, medicine, industry, and research.
The committee follows a defence cooperation agreement signed in December 2024.
That agreement was signed during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kuwait.
Indian officials from the military, defence industry, research, medical services, and foreign ministry joined the meeting.
Kuwait’s delegation also visited Indian defence industry representatives.
The two countries have had diplomatic relations since 1962.
India and Kuwait held the inaugural meeting of their Joint Defence Committee in New Delhi on Friday.
The countries agreed to expand cooperation in training, military exercises, military medicine, staff talks, defence industry, and research and development.
The committee is intended to implement the goals of a defence cooperation memorandum signed during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kuwait in December 2024.
The meeting was co-chaired by India’s Amitabh Prasad and Kuwait’s Brigadier General Raed Alsakran.
The Kuwaiti delegation visited Indian defence industry representatives and laid a wreath at the National War Memorial.
