Maharashtra Sends 625 Irregularly Appointed Ministerial Staff Back
The Maharashtra government found that many people were working in ministers’ offices without the required approvals.
It ordered these workers to return to the departments where they originally worked.
About 625 employees have now been sent back.
They include assistants, clerks and other office staff.
Their government building entry cards are being collected.
Their facial-recognition access is also being turned off.
The government says informal appointments are not allowed under service rules.

The employees were sent back to their respective parent departments under a General Administration Department directive.
The action covers private secretaries, special duty officers, personal assistants, clerks and peons.
Authorities have begun collecting Mantralaya identity cards and disabling facial-recognition access.
The government has 904 sanctioned posts for ministerial offices, with 549 filled and 355 vacant.
