Tamil Nadu Says Long Weekend Delayed Pension Payments
Tamil Nadu provides pensions to many people who need financial support.
These include older people, disabled people, widows, abandoned women and agricultural workers.
The government said pension payments were delayed because offices were closed for several holidays.
The holidays lasted from September 11 to September 14.
The state said it had made arrangements to send the money by September 14.
More than 35 lakh people receive money through 12 state pension schemes.
Nearly 20 lakh more people are covered by three Union Government schemes.
The payments will be sent using a system called SNA-SPARSH.
