Sawan Shivratri 2026 on 11 August: Bhadra Timings and Jalabhishek

There is a very special day coming up for people who love Lord Shiva, a god in Hindu stories.

That day is called Sawan Shivratri, and this year it will be on 11 August 2026.

On this day, people pour water on a special stone shape called a Shivling to show their love and respect for Lord Shiva.

The whole month when this day happens is thought to be a holy time for Lord Shiva.

Some people walk on a long trip called the Kanwar Yatra to collect sacred water.

When they come back on Sawan Shivratri, they offer this water to Lord Shiva, and that is the end of their trip.

On this day there is also a time called Bhadra when some people believe it is not lucky to start prayers.

Bhadra lasts from early morning until the afternoon this year.

People who follow this belief wait for the right time before they pour the water.

There is an even bigger Shivratri called Maha Shivaratri in February or March, but this day is still very special to many people.
