Jaishankar Meets Liberia's Foreign Minister, Discusses Shipping and UNSC Reforms
Two countries, India and Liberia, are friends and want to work together.
India's top diplomat, Mr. S. Jaishankar, met Liberia's top diplomat, Ms. Sara Beysolow Nyanti.
They talked about keeping ships safe at sea, mining for minerals, health, farming, clean water and training.
Liberia is opening a brand new embassy, an office in another country, in India's capital city, New Delhi.
Mr. Jaishankar said congratulations and hoped the two countries would become better partners.
They also talked about making the United Nations Security Council fairer so more countries can have a say.
A group of lawmakers from Liberia also visited India to learn about helpful development programmes.
These programmes help people save money, get clean water and stay healthy.
The visit is part of South-South cooperation, where countries in the global south help one another learn and grow.

They discussed the safety and security of commercial shipping, mining, health, agriculture, water and training.
Jaishankar congratulated Nyanti on the inauguration of the new Embassy of Liberia in New Delhi.
The meeting also focused on much-needed United Nations Security Council reforms.
Jaishankar separately met a Liberian parliamentary delegation on an IBSA-funded South-South Peer Learning Mission running from August 10-15, supported by UN Women.
