17 UN Envoys Celebrate India's Handloom Heritage in Mumbai
Important visitors from faraway countries came to India to see beautiful handmade cloth.
This cloth is called handloom, and it is made by skilled Indian craftspeople.
The visitors represent their countries at the United Nations, a big group where countries work together.
They came from 17 different countries, including Kenya, Indonesia, Chile, and Slovakia.
The group celebrated National Handloom Day in the city of Mumbai.
National Handloom Day is a special day to honor people who weave cloth by hand.
The visitors also met India's External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar.
They talked about how countries can help each other and work together.
India wants countries in the Global South to have a stronger voice at the United Nations.
The visit helped show the world India's traditions and culture.
Permanent Representatives from 17 countries to the United Nations celebrated India's handloom heritage in Mumbai on National Handloom Day.
The delegation included envoys from Burundi, Chile, Fiji, Indonesia, Iraq, Kenya, Nicaragua, Panama, Slovakia and other nations.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met the delegation on Tuesday during their week-long familiarisation study tour of India.
Jaishankar said reformed multilateralism reflecting the aspirations of the Global South is needed as the global order transforms.
In July, Jaishankar launched India's campaign for a non-permanent UN Security Council seat for the 2028-29 term, rooted in the SHANTI approach.
