Assam Clears Rs 50,000-Crore Development Package For Public Projects
Assam has approved a large plan to build and improve public facilities.
The plan is worth Rs 50,000 crore.
It includes better high schools and thousands of new Anganwadi centres for children and mothers.
Every Assembly constituency could get women-focused markets, a stadium and an auditorium.
Tea garden workers are also to receive Rs 1.5 lakh to help build houses.
Much of the money may come from NABARD, while the state will provide the rest.
The projects are expected to start in 2027.
They will be completed in stages by 2034.
The Assam Cabinet approved the framework for a Rs 50,000-crore development package announced by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Around Rs 700 crore will upgrade nearly 1,000 high schools, while about 6,000 new Anganwadi centres are planned.
The package proposes two women-focused markets, a stadium and an auditorium in every Assembly constituency.
About Rs 30,000 crore is expected through NABARD funding, with the remaining Rs 20,000 crore coming from state resources.
Projects are scheduled to begin in 2027 and roll out in phases over seven years until 2034, including Rs 1.5 lakh housing support for tea garden workers.
