1.25 Lakh Shivlings Made By Inmates At Indore Central Jail
In a jail in the city of Indore, people who live there took part in a special activity to show their faith.
They made many small clay shapes called Parthiv Shivlings, which are important in the Hindu religion.
The leader of prisons in Madhya Pradesh came to the jail to start the activity.
His name is Mr. Varun Kapoor, and his wife helped him too.
More than one thousand men and fifty-one women who are in the jail joined in.
Some of the people in jail sang religious songs while others made the shapes.
This happened during a holy month, and it was the fifth time the jail held this activity.
The people in charge of the jail hope that doing this helps the prisoners feel peaceful and think positive thoughts.
They want the prisoners to become better people and live well in society after they leave the jail.
A spiritual programme to make 1.25 lakh Parthiv Shivlings was organised at Central Jail Indore during the holy Shravan month.
The event marked the fifth year of the installation of the Shiva lingam at the prison, with Varun Kapoor, Director General of Prisons, Madhya Pradesh, as chief patron.
Kapoor and his wife Soumya Kapoor began the construction as the chief yajman couple amid Vedic mantra recitations and Shiva stotras.
Around 1,000 male inmates and 51 women inmates, including undertrials, convicts and women prisoners, participated in making the Shivlings.
Officials said the programme aims to promote spirituality, positive thinking, mental peace and self-reflection to help inmates reconnect with mainstream society.
