Indore Marks Raksha Bandhan With Faith, Family And Civic Initiatives
Indore celebrated Raksha Bandhan with prayers, family visits and special public programmes.
One family made a very large rakhi by hand.
The rakhi was shaped like a lotus and carried pictures and messages about religion, culture and national pride.
It was first taken to Khajrana Ganesh Temple for prayers.
It will also be offered at several other temples.
At Central Jail Indore, prisoners met their brothers and sisters and celebrated together.
Women and sisters could ride city buses for free on August 28.
A separate Vedic ceremony was also held at the Narmada-Kshipra Sangam.
Indore celebrated Raksha Bandhan on Friday through religious ceremonies, family gatherings and civic programmes.
The Matrushri Palrecha family created a 40-by-40-inch lotus-shaped rakhi themed around Vande Mataram and national pride.
The rakhi was first offered at Khajrana Ganesh Temple and is scheduled for presentation at several other temples.
Central Jail Indore arranged meetings where inmates celebrated with their siblings by tying rakhis and sharing sweets.
Women and sisters received free city-bus travel on August 28, while a Shravani Upakarma ceremony was held at the Narmada-Kshipra Sangam.
