Kalyan police arrested five alleged members of an organised narcotics syndicate and seized 9.768 kilograms of heroin.
Police valued the seized heroin at ₹34.18 crore in the international market.
The largest recovery, 9.236 kilograms, was allegedly made from Qasim Abdul Sattar Vasaikar and Krishna Nagappa Halmani.
Police identified Ajmad Yusuf Pathan as the alleged kingpin and said he has about 20 serious criminal cases.
The accused were booked under the NDPS Act, with MCOCA provisions later added; three were remanded to police custody until September 17.
