Maharashtra Waqf Board Expands Offices, Digitisation and Institutional Capacity
The Maharashtra State Board of Waqf says it is improving how Waqf institutions and properties are managed.

It also opened more district offices so people can access services closer to home.
About 20,000 institutions were registered through a special administrative process.
The Board is putting property records online through the UMEED Portal.

The Maharashtra State Board of Waqf recruited 60 permanent employees in February 2024 and increased contractual staff to 120.
Its administrative network grew from five regional and eight district offices to 27 District Waqf Offices.
The Board says it registered approximately 20,000 Waqf institutions through suo motu action and completed about 98% of Phase-II UMEED Portal work.
A ₹26 crore GIS mapping project was sanctioned, while Waqf Fund income reportedly rose from ₹5 crore to ₹20 crore.
The Board received ₹37.5 crore in government funding and highlighted legal, audit, welfare and coordination initiatives.
