Harish Rao Challenges Proposed Transfer of Azamabad Oilfed Land
T Harish Rao says the Telangana government may give a large piece of public land to a private person.
The land is in the Azamabad Industrial Area near Hyderabad's RTC Cross Roads.
It covers 15,984 square yards and has been with Telangana Oilfed since 1991.
The land was taken back by the government after an earlier lease was cancelled.
Harish Rao says Oilfed has used or controlled the property for more than 30 years.
He says the government may keep only about 1,800 square yards for Oilfed.
He also says the land could be worth around Rs 500 crore.
Oilfed is reportedly ready to pay Rs 87 crore for freehold rights.
Harish Rao wants the government to explain the plan and stop it immediately.

The 15,984-square-yard property was reclaimed by the government and handed to Telangana Oilfed in 1991.
Harish Rao said Telangana Oilfed has possessed the land for more than three decades.
He questioned a reported proposal to retain about 1,800 square yards with Oilfed and transfer the remainder.
Harish Rao said the land could be worth about Rs 500 crore, while the proposed transaction was reportedly valued at Rs 87 crore.
