37 Junior Lecturers Served Notices Over Fake Certificates
Some teachers called junior lecturers got their jobs made permanent a while ago.
The government checks whether the certificates teachers used are real.
Recently, it found that 37 teachers may have used fake certificates.
The teachers said they had university degrees, but the universities say they never gave them.
So the education department sent each teacher a formal notice.
The notice asks them to explain why they should not be punished.
If they cannot explain, they could lose their jobs or even face criminal charges.
The teachers have seven days to answer.
In earlier checks, other teachers were already removed for the same reason.
The government is now checking certificates from about 360 teachers in total.
The intermediate education department issued show cause notices to 37 government junior lecturers over alleged fake educational certificates.
The notices follow a fresh verification of certificates of nearly 360 junior lecturers regularised from contract service in 2023.
Universities told the department that the postgraduate and BTech certificates submitted were not issued by them.
The lecturers have seven days to respond; they face disciplinary action and criminal cases for forgery and cheating under the BNS.
In earlier verification rounds, 20 junior lecturers were dismissed and another 20 were terminated during regularisation.
The department acted days after it was found that colleges had forged senior officials' signatures on fire no-objection certificates.
