The government is preparing a plan for how Machilipatnam should grow over the next 30 years.

It wants the city to become an important place for education, jobs and business.

The plan includes better roads, drinking-water connections and streetlights.

Several bridges are also being built to make travel easier.

The Machilipatnam Port and Fishing Harbour are expected to be completed soon.

A large industrial park is planned on 5,000 acres.

Companies have shown interest in shipbuilding, lithium-related investment and a food park.

The minister also said many public complaints had already been resolved.

Data-centre cable connectivity between Visakhapatnam, Chennai and Hyderabad is expected to pass through Machilipatnam.
Infrastructure projects
A bridge at Tallapalem and two bridges on the Bandarukota–Polatithippa–Pallethummalapalem route are under construction.
