Tirupati Air Connectivity Gets Boost as FLY91 Launches Routes
Tirupati is a city visited by millions of temple pilgrims.
Its airport was declared an international airport in 2017, but it has not yet received direct international flights.
The aviation minister said the government is working toward flights to places such as Kuwait.
This could help people from the region and overseas devotees.
Airline FLY91 has now started flying to Tirupati.
Its new routes connect Tirupati with Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Rajahmundry.
The Hyderabad flight runs every day.
The other two routes operate on selected days each week.
Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu advocated direct international flights between Tirupati and destinations including Kuwait.
Tirupati airport received international airport status in June 2017 but still has no direct international services.
FLY91 added Tirupati as its 13th destination and third station in Andhra Pradesh.
The airline launched direct routes from Tirupati to Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Rajahmundry.
The Hyderabad service will operate daily, while Vijayawada and Rajahmundry flights will run four and three days weekly, respectively.
