IndiGo launches new Vijayawada-Varanasi-Kolkata service on three days a week
An airplane company called IndiGo started a new flight route that connects three cities in India: Vijayawada, Varanasi, and Kolkata.
The flights will fly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Important leaders came together to start this new service.
The Minister in charge of airplanes in India said he was very happy about it.
He said the new flights will help people visit two special temples, one in Vijayawada and one in Varanasi.
Lots of people want to visit these holy places, and now it is easier for them.
On the very first day, many passengers flew on the new route.
The leaders also talked about adding even more new flights in the future.
Some people asked for a flight to another country, Dubai, so travel can be even easier.
IndiGo launched a new Vijayawada–Varanasi–Kolkata flight service operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays with Varanasi as the intermediate stop.
Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu and Machilipatnam MP Vallabhaneni Balashowry launched the service on Thursday at Vijayawada International Airport.
Flight 6E6501 departs Kolkata at 2:10 pm, reaches Varanasi at 3:55 pm and arrives in Vijayawada at 5:50 pm; return flight 6E6502 leaves Vijayawada at 6:20 pm and reaches Kolkata at 10:15 pm.
On the first day, 129 passengers travelled from Vijayawada to Varanasi, while 89 passengers arrived in Vijayawada from Varanasi.
Naidu said services to Pune, Ahmedabad and Cochin would be added soon and announced plans for Hub-and-Spoke operations at Vijayawada.
