The Election Commission of India is the group that makes sure people can vote in India.

It keeps a big list of everyone allowed to vote, called the electoral roll.

In the state of Jharkhand, a draft list was made on August 5.

The state government asked for more time to finish the list because of heavy rain, farming work, and a big festival called the Shravani Mela.

The Election Commission agreed and extended the deadline.

People can now ask for changes to the list until September 15.

Election helpers will finish checking all the requests by October 14.

The final list of voters will be published on October 19.

The Election Commission also hired 311 extra helpers to get the work done faster.

The goal is to make sure nobody who can vote is left off the list.
