Delhi University Allows First FYUP Batch Direct PhD Entry
The University of Delhi has created a special rule for its first four-year undergraduate batch.
Students who finish the programme in 2026 may apply directly for a PhD.
They will not have to complete a postgraduate degree first.
Most students need at least a 7.5 CGPA, while SC and ST students need at least 7 CGPA.
They also will not need to show a research paper for this special admission route.
The rule is only for the 2026-27 academic year.
DU introduced the four-year programme under the National Education Policy 2020.
The university has also opened one-year postgraduate courses for students who want another option.
Eligible FYUP graduates can apply directly to PhD programmes in the 2026-27 academic session.
The minimum requirement is a 7.5 CGPA, reduced to 7 CGPA for SC and ST students.
The special provision applies only to the first cohort admitted to the four-year programme in 2022-23.
DU said these students will not need to submit a research publication for the special route.
DU also introduced one-year postgraduate programmes in 46 disciplines, offering 5,857 seats.
