MP Scholarship Delay Leaves 3.5 Lakh Students Awaiting Funds
About 3.5 lakh students in Madhya Pradesh have not received scholarship money for almost two years.
Many of the students are from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities.
Some students attend government schools, while others attend private schools through the Right to Education Act.
The money could not be sent because some bank-account details were wrong or missing.
The education department has asked officials to correct the information.
Parents often have to visit banks to update their children’s accounts.
This is difficult for families who live far from the bank or outside their district.
Until the details are fixed, the scholarship payments remain pending.
Around 3.5 lakh Madhya Pradesh school students have awaited scholarships for nearly two years.
The affected group includes about 2.66 lakh government-school students and 77,000 RTE private-school students.
Many payments are stalled because student bank-account details are incorrect or incomplete.
The School Education Department has ordered officials to update the affected students’ bank information.
Indore has the highest reported number of affected students, at 22,859, followed by Rewa and Dhar.
