Volkswagen Confirms Kylaq-Based Compact SUV For India In 2027
Volkswagen is planning a new small SUV for India in 2027.
It will be shorter than four metres, a popular size in the Indian car market.
The vehicle will use the same basic platform and mechanical parts as the Skoda Kylaq.
Volkswagen is expected to give it a different design and identity.
The SUV may use a turbo-petrol engine with about 115 bhp.
Buyers may get a manual or automatic gearbox.
Its expected price is between Rs 8 lakh and Rs 13 lakh.
Volkswagen wants to reach customers who are looking for a vehicle smaller and less expensive than the Taigun.
Making the SUV in Chakan could also help Volkswagen and Skoda use their factory more efficiently.
Volkswagen India has confirmed a new sub-4-metre compact SUV for debut in 2027.
The SUV will share the Skoda Kylaq’s MQB-A0-IN platform and mechanicals but receive distinct Volkswagen styling, interiors and positioning.
It is expected to use a 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine producing about 115 bhp and 178 Nm.
Expected transmissions include a six-speed manual and an eight-speed torque-converter automatic.
The SUV is expected to cost between Rs 8 lakh and Rs 13 lakh and be manufactured at the Chakan plant.
