Hariyali Teej 2026: Date, Rituals and Monsoon Festival Celebrations

Hariyali Teej is a fun Hindu festival that happens during the rainy season in India.

People in northern states like Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, and Punjab celebrate it with big excitement.

The festival is especially special for women and girls.

On this day, many women do a special fast called a nirjala vrat, which means they do not eat or drink anything all day.

They pray for their husbands, or for the person they hope to marry someday, to stay healthy and live a long life.

Women wear pretty green clothes and green bangles, because green stands for nature and good luck.

They also put henna, called mehndi, on their hands, which is considered lucky.

People pray to Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva by offering them flowers, sweets, and fruits.

There are swings, called jhulas, hung from trees and decorated with flowers, which everyone enjoys while singing folk songs and dancing.
