Ladakh Inaugurates World’s Highest-Altitude Twin Flower Fields in Leh
Ladakh opened two very large flower fields near Leh.
The fields are in Choglamsar and Stakna, about 10,600 feet above sea level.
Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena opened them on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.
More than 25 lakh flowers are growing across 40 acres.
Most of the flowers are Lilium, with some Gladiolus as well.
Growing flowers in Ladakh is difficult because it is cold, dry and very high above sea level.
The fields may help farmers learn new ways to earn money and may attract tourists.
Officials also hope the project will create greener spaces and support sustainable development.
