Ladakh has received approval for autonomous hill development councils in all seven of its districts.

The approval comes after five new districts were created in April.

The new districts are Sham, Nubra, Zanskar, Drass and Changthang.

Ladakh’s lieutenant governor called the decision historic.

He said it would bring government decisions closer to people.
