Nine Killed As Van Swept Into Flooded Drain In MP
Rain made a road very wet and covered it with water.
A van with 11 family members inside tried to drive across the flooded road.
The water was moving very fast and pushed the van into a deep drain.
Sadly, many people in the family died, and the reports do not agree on exactly how many, with one saying seven and another saying nine.
Two people in the van were saved with help from local people.
The family was on its way to visit a religious place.
Some locals had warned the driver not to go, but he drove anyway.
Rescue workers and villagers worked for many hours to pull the van out of the water.
Police and government officials came to the spot to help.
It was a very sad accident for the family and their community.
A van carrying 11 members of a family was swept off a flooded road into a swollen drain near the Padhana bypass on the Pachor-Sarangpur road in Rajgarh district, Madhya Pradesh.
Reports differ on the toll: one account said seven bodies, including women and children, had been recovered by 1:45 pm, while another said nine people, including a girl, were killed.
The driver, Mukesh Nayak, reportedly ignored warnings from five to six locals and attempted to cross the flooded stretch, where water had spread across the road.
Two occupants, Mukesh and Hukumsingh, survived and were rescued with the help of locals.
The family, residents of Satwas village in Dewas district, was travelling to Kadnavad village in Sarangpur tehsil to visit a religious site; rescue teams pulled out the submerged van after several hours.
