BJP Plans Month-Long Service Campaign and Vadnagar-Varanasi Yatra
The BJP plans a month-long programme called the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.
It is expected to begin on September 17, which is Narendra Modi's birthday, and end on October 17.
One major part will be a journey between Vadnagar and Varanasi.
Vadnagar is where Modi was born, while Varanasi is linked to his political work.
Ten groups will start from each city and travel toward the other city.
The groups will use bikes and buses and include BJP workers.
They will travel about 100 kilometres each day and meet people along the way.
The campaign will also include health, sanitation and government-scheme activities.
The BJP says it wants to connect Modi's birthday with public service instead of ordinary celebrations.
The Bharatiya Janata Party plans to launch the month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan on September 17, Narendra Modi's birthday.
The campaign is scheduled to run through October 17 and marks 25 years of Modi's public life.
Ten teams each will depart from Vadnagar and Varanasi for the Vadnagar to Varanasi Yatra, also called the Janmabhoomi to Karmabhoomi Yatra.
The convoys will travel about 100 kilometres daily with bikers, buses and BJP workers, stopping for four planned programmes.
The wider campaign will include service activities, beneficiary camps, youth outreach and additional east-west and north-south yatras.
