Kalyan Doctor Allegedly Attacked After Dispute Over Patient’s Treatment
A doctor in Kalyan says he was attacked at a private hospital.
The alleged attacker was the son of a patient.
The patient had come in with lower-back pain.
The doctor examined him and prescribed medicines.
He also explained how to take the medicines and use a support or bandage.
An argument then reportedly happened about the treatment.
Police registered a case against the patient’s son.
The incident happened only weeks after another hospital assault led doctors and nurses to protest statewide.
Police registered an FIR against Vinit Jaywant Deshmukh for allegedly assaulting Dr Yogendra Jaiswal.
The incident occurred late Saturday night at Bhanujyot Hospital in Kalyan East.
The dispute reportedly followed an argument about treatment given to Deshmukh’s father, Jaywant Deshmukh.
Jaiswal said he examined the patient, prescribed medicines and explained dosage and care instructions.
Jaiswal and hospital staff went to Kolsewadi police station around 1:30 a.m. Sunday to file a complaint.
