Mangaluru KFC Outlet Shut Over 9-Month-Old Chicken, 81 Kg 'Expired' Meat Seized In Mysuru During Raid · timesnownews.com

Food safety officers check restaurants to make sure the food people eat is safe and fresh.

They visited a KFC restaurant at City Centre Mall in Mangaluru.

There, they found chicken meat that had been stored for about nine months.

That is very, very old for food meant to be eaten.

Because of this, the officers sealed and shut down the restaurant.

The officers work for the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department, under the Health and Family Welfare Department.

Their check was part of a special food safety drive.

In another city called Mysuru, they also seized 81 kilograms of meat that had expired.

Expired means the date saying when it was safe to eat had passed.

They did this to keep people safe from eating bad food.
