Amazon and FluxGen Plan 178 Million-Litre Water Restoration
Amazon India and FluxGen are planning a water-saving project at a research campus in Pune.
The campus is called the National Chemical Laboratory.
The project will use sensors and special equipment to reduce water use.
It will also collect rainwater, recycle wastewater and help refill groundwater.
The goal is to restore about 178 million litres of water each year.
The work is expected to finish by the end of 2026.
Starting in 2027, students may visit the campus and learn about saving water.
Amazon says its other projects in India already replenish more water than its operations use.
Amazon India and FluxGen will implement an integrated water-management project at Pune’s National Chemical Laboratory campus.
The initiative is expected to restore an estimated 178 million litres of water annually once completed.
The project will use smart sensors, efficient fixtures, wastewater recycling, rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharge.
Construction is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026, with a student education programme planned from 2027.
Amazon says it is already water positive in India and returns water equivalent to 120% of its direct operational use.
