NCW Forms Team to Probe Cash-for-Bride Practice in Mewat
The National Commission for Women is investigating reports about women being bought and married in the Mewat region.
This practice is locally called “Paro” or “Molki.”

The National Commission for Women formed a five-member team to investigate reported “Paro” or “Molki” marriages in Mewat, especially Nuh district.

The inquiry will examine possible trafficking networks, repeated resale, abuse, child marriage, legal identity and access to services.
The team, headed by retired IPS officer P.M. Nair, must submit its report within 10 working days of its constitution.
The panel will meet survivors, residents, police, civil officials and civil society groups during an on-the-spot inquiry.
