UP MLA Feels Cheated as Son-in-law's Father Faces 25-Marriage Charges
A politician named Gyan Tiwari is very upset.
He is a member of a big political group in India called the BJP.
His daughter got married in 2024 to a young man named Prakhar.
Now, Prakhar's father, Anuj Trivedi, is in trouble with the police.
The police say Trivedi married 25 different women and tricked them.
These weddings are said to have happened between 2016 and 2021.
Trivedi is in jail because of a case in a city called Mumbai.
Mr Tiwari says he was tricked too, because he did not know about this.
He says he is sorry about the marriage and wants the people who did wrong to be punished.
His daughter is a doctor who can take care of herself.
BJP MLA Gyan Tiwari said he feels 'cheated' after Anuj Trivedi, his son-in-law's father, was accused of marrying and allegedly duping 25 women across several states.
Trivedi, a resident of Chandrawal in Uttar Pradesh's Misrikh area, is currently in jail in connection with a case registered in Mumbai.
Several women have accused Trivedi of deceiving them by entering into marriages under false pretences between 2016 and 2021.
Tiwari arranged his daughter Dr Pragya Tiwari's marriage to Trivedi's son Prakhar in 2024 after recommendations from prominent people, including former MP Janardan Mishra.
Tiwari demanded the strictest possible punishment for those found guilty and said he no longer wishes to maintain any relationship with the family.
Women have reportedly approached district authorities seeking an investigation into Trivedi's assets and business dealings.
