India supplied 895 crore litres of ethanol by the end of August.

This was part of the 2025-26 Ethanol Supply Year.

The amount was about 85% of the total ethanol already contracted.

Most of the ethanol came from grains rather than sugar-based materials.

Maize was the biggest single source.

Surplus rice from the Food Corporation of India was another major source.

Sugarcane juice and molasses also provided large amounts.

The All India Distillers' Association said using many sources can make the programme stronger, but future demand will need to keep pace with production.
