Yogi Adityanath honours martyrs' families at Lucknow Independence Day ceremony
India celebrates Independence Day every year on August 15.
In 2026, the leader of the state of Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, held a big ceremony in the city of Lucknow.
At the ceremony, he thanked the families of soldiers who gave their lives to keep the country safe.
Some soldiers received special medals, like the Shaurya Chakra, for being very brave.
The Chief Minister also gave respect to the parents, wives and brothers of these brave soldiers.
This made the families feel that the brave actions of their loved ones were remembered.
The ceremony happened in front of a famous government building called Vidhan Bhavan.
It was a day to say thank you to the people who protect the country.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed the state Independence Day ceremony in front of Vidhan Bhavan in Lucknow on August 15, 2026.
He honoured families of martyrs and gallantry awardees, including Shaurya Chakra, Vir Chakra and Sena Medal recipients.
Among those honoured were Shanti Bisht, mother of posthumous Shaurya Chakra awardee Lieutenant Hari Singh Bisht, and HS Mohindra, father of Lieutenant Colonel Amit Mohindra.
Families of soldiers martyred in Operation Vijay, Operation Rakshak, Operation Pawan and a naval operation were felicitated.
The Chief Minister also hoisted the flag at his government residence in Lucknow on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day.
