India’s top family businesses now worth more than Saudi Arabia's GDP; Ambanis remain richest family · livemint.com

A report called the Hurun India Most Valuable Family Businesses list shows which business families in India are the richest.

Mukesh Ambani's family is still the richest, with wealth worth ₹25.8 lakh crore, even though their fortune went down a little bit.

All of India's top business families together are worth $1.46 trillion, which is more than the GDP of Saudi Arabia.

Their combined wealth grew 27.5% since 2024, which is faster than the stock market.

The Adani family is the richest family built by a first-generation entrepreneur, with ₹19.6 lakh crore.

Sunil Bharti Mittal, who leads Airtel, is third on the list.

Some families grew very fast, like the Ahuja family of Shahi Exports, whose wealth jumped 352% in three years.

Many of these businesses are now run by the second, third, or fourth generation of the same family.

The report's makers say these families are also getting more professional in how they run their companies.

“India's most valuable family businesses are now worth $1.46 trillion, or ₹138 lakh crore. To put that in perspective, if this list were a country, it would rank as the world's 18th-largest economy by GDP, larger than the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland and Poland”
