Tokyo tops Time Out's global rankings for Gen Z-friendly cities
A magazine called Time Out made a list of the best cities in the world for Gen Z, which is the name for people who are mostly in their teens and twenties.
They asked people under 30 years old which cities feel exciting, lively, and fun to live in.
Tokyo, a big city in Japan, came in first place.
Young people like Tokyo because it has lots of cool things to do, like art shows, concerts, plays, tasty food, and fun places to go out at night.
But having fun things around is not enough — young people also need to be able to afford them.
The survey showed that staying active, making new friends easily, going to book events, and being able to walk everywhere are also very important.
All these things together help young people live life to the fullest.
That is why Tokyo was chosen as the number one city for Gen Z around the world.
Time Out released its annual global ranking of the best cities for Gen Z to live in, with Tokyo taking the top spot.
The ranking is based on a survey of people under the age of 30 asked to identify cities they consider dynamic, vibrant and enjoyable.
Gen Z respondents favor lively, 'cool' experiences such as art galleries, exhibitions, live gigs, theatre shows, good food, and nightlife.
Affordability plays a key role in whether a city is considered cool by young adults.
Staying active, making new friends, attending book events, and walkability also strongly influence Gen Z's preferred cities.
