Mumbai Joins Global Workcation Index as Only Indian City

Its internet speed and quality, local events and happiness score were weaker areas.
Bangkok came first in the list, followed by Tokyo and Barcelona.
The report says many workers want to add remote work to their holidays.
People say this can help them avoid burnout, spend time with family and use their holidays for longer.
Good Wi-Fi, affordable travel and clear rules from employers are important for this kind of working.
Mumbai debuted in IWG’s 2026 Work From Anywhere Index with a score of 77, ranking ahead of London and Miami.
The city performed well on transport costs, flexible workplaces, climate and accommodation, but scored lower on broadband quality, local events and happiness.
Bangkok topped the ranking with 106.5, followed by Tokyo at 96.5 and Barcelona at 95.5.
India recorded the highest flexible-workspace maturity score and had 79.7 million square feet of flexible workspace across its top eight cities in Q2 2025.
An IWG survey found that 48% of hybrid workers planned to extend a 2026 holiday by working remotely, while 90% said work-from-anywhere improved work-life balance.
