Ponnam Prabhakar Launches Monsoon Drive Against Mosquito-Borne Diseases in Hyderabad
A city called Hyderabad has a problem with mosquitoes, which can make people sick.
A minister named Mr. Ponnam Prabhakar started a special plan called the Monsoon Drive to stop this.
The plan will run from August 11 to 21.
City workers will visit homes to teach people how to keep their houses clean.
Mosquitoes like to lay their eggs in still water that sits around homes.
The minister is asking everyone to throw away standing water every Friday, which is called the 'Friday-Dryday' programme.
He says stopping mosquitoes is much better than getting treated after getting sick.
He wants people to take personal responsibility for cleanliness.
If everyone keeps their homes clean, Hyderabad can stay healthy.
BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar launched the Special Monsoon Drive to prevent mosquito-borne diseases in Hyderabad.
The drive will be conducted from August 11 to 21, starting with the launch of an Information, Education and Communication (IEC) programme at the Minister's Quarters.
Entomology department officials explained the awareness programmes being undertaken and the equipment used for mosquito prevention.
GHMC is conducting door-to-door programmes to create awareness among people about keeping their surroundings clean.
Prabhakar urged residents to remove stagnant water every Friday under the 'Friday-Dryday' programme to prevent dengue and other diseases.
The minister stressed that prevention is better than treatment and called on people to cooperate with the government's efforts.
