Uttar Pradesh to Complete APIL Hi-Tech Township, Aid Homebuyers
A housing project in Lucknow has stopped progressing.
The Uttar Pradesh government has approved a plan for the Lucknow Development Authority to take it over.
The authority will try to restart construction.
It will also develop unfinished roads, utilities, and other facilities.
About 5,000 homebuyers may benefit from the plan.
The project could have debts or other liabilities of up to about Rs 2,912 crore.
Officials will determine the final amount through an insolvency process.
Government funds will be provided to help the authority pay the required costs.
The plan is also intended to protect government land and support construction jobs.
The Lucknow Development Authority will take over APIL’s stalled Hi-Tech Township project.
The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet approved the takeover on September 15, 2026.
The project could have a maximum potential liability of approximately Rs 2,912 crore.
The actual liability will be determined through the Insolvency Resolution Professional process.
The move aims to restart construction and resolve issues for around 5,000 homebuyers.
