Women Seek More Frontline Jobs as Employer Outreach Lags
More women are applying for frontline jobs in India.
Frontline jobs include work in sales, offices, teaching, beauty services, and customer-facing roles.
Women made up 43.5% of applications on the WorkIndia platform during April-June 2026.
But only 13% of job advertisements specifically invited women to apply.
This means women are showing strong interest, while many employers are not reaching out to them directly.
Women are also applying for jobs such as sales, marketing, office work, and customer service.
The report says employers may need to improve safety, flexibility, accessibility, and workplace design.
Most of these jobs do not require strong English skills, so Hindi and regional languages can help more people find work.
Women made up 43.5% of WorkIndia applicants in April-June 2026, up from 40.4% a year earlier.
Only 13% of job postings explicitly targeted women, indicating a gap between applicant interest and employer outreach.
The report analysed more than 650,000 postings and 9.8 million applications across 772 cities and over 50 job categories.
Sales received more than 5.6 million applications, while women were 86.6% of beautician applicants and 80.7% of teaching applicants.
The report said 92% of frontline postings required no English or only basic conversational English, supporting access through Hindi and regional languages.
