Karnataka Draft Rolls Exclude Over 1.08 Crore Voters
In Karnataka, a big list of people who can vote is being checked.
Officials went to every house to see if the voters still live there.
They found that more than one crore people might need to be taken off the list.
That is a very large number — about one in every five voters.
This can happen if people moved away, sadly passed away, or were listed twice by mistake.
Another 25 lakh people might also be removed if they cannot show the right documents.
The new list will be published on August 24, 2026.
If your name is not on the list, you can fill a form to try to get back on it.
Officials say this is to make the voting list clean and correct.
Over 1.08 crore (1,08,31,945) Karnataka voters, or 19.54% of the total 5.54 crore electors, are listed under the ASDDO category and will be excluded from draft electoral rolls.
Another 25,14,247 voters (4.54%) are under the 'no-mapping' category and may be removed if they fail to submit required documents to the Electoral Registration Officer.
The house-to-house enumeration for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) ran from June 30 to August 17.
Draft rolls will be published on August 24, 2026, with the claims and objections stage running from August 24 to September 23, 2026.
Affected voters can file Form 6 for new registration or Form 8 for corrections to their information.
