SCoR GM Inspects New South Coast Railway Zone
The South Coast Railway Zone is a new part of India’s train system.
Its boss, Sandeep Mathur, drove around almost 3,500 kilometers to look at how the trains and stations work.
He checked tracks, signals, and safety rules, and talked to workers and people who use the trains.
He also made sure the stations were ready for a big festival called the Godavari Pushkaram.
Mathur’s visit helped the railway learn what needs fixing and what new trains or tracks might be built in the future.
General Manager Sandeep Mathur inspected all four divisions of the South Coast Railway Zone, covering nearly 3,500 km.
He reviewed operations, safety, infrastructure, passenger amenities, and developmental projects across 35 major stations and 23 Amrit Bharat Station Scheme projects.
Inspections included track conditions, signalling, level crossings, tunnels, and construction works such as third‑line and rail‑over‑rail projects.
He engaged with employees, station officials, and public representatives to gather feedback on safety, monsoon preparedness, and local demands.
The review also covered preparations for the Godavari Pushkaram pilgrimage, special train services, and proposals for high‑speed rail corridors in the Amaravati region.
