Slipper thrown at Pappu Yadav amid Ram Temple donation protest
Pappu Yadav, a member of Parliament, was speaking at his house in Delhi when a man threw a slipper at him.
The man, Sumit, said he was angry because Yadav had worn saffron clothes and talked about money that might have been taken from the Ram temple.
Yadav said the attack was to stop him from speaking.
The police are looking into the incident and have taken the attacker in.
The protest that caused the anger happened in Parliament, where Yadav and other MPs put money in boxes to show they think money was stolen from the temple.
Pappu Yadav was hit with a slipper during a press conference at his Delhi home after defending a protest over alleged Ram temple donation theft.
The attacker, 34‑year‑old Sumit from Bulandshahr, was reportedly carrying a knife; a second man named Happy was also present.
The protest, staged on Friday in front of Parliament’s Makar Dwar, involved MPs placing money in donation boxes and Yadav pocketing it to symbolize alleged embezzlement.
The incident triggered a scuffle, police investigations, and an FIR in Varanasi, with BJP leaders demanding apologies for hurting Hindu sentiments.
Yadav has claimed he was targeted to silence him, has received threats from sadhus, and maintains that the protest protects Sanatan Dharma.

Quotes
Pappu Yadav
Independent MP Pappu Yadav, defender of the protest
“The Delhi Police seems remarkably efficient when it comes to repressing students peacefully demanding their constitutional rights. But when it comes to protecting a vocal Opposition leader – even a sitting Member of Parliament – at his own residence, it suddenly falls short.”

“He attacked me in front of all you people. I was attacked, students were attacked. What is Papu Yadav's crime? Is it my mistake or that of (former temple trust general secretary) Champat Rai? They have stolen donations.”
