Deep Depression Expected to Cross Andhra-Odisha Coast Tonight
A powerful weather system is moving across the Bay of Bengal.
It is called a deep depression.
Weather officials expect it to reach the coast near Kalingapatnam on Wednesday night.
The crossing may happen between 8:30 pm and 11:30 pm.
The system could bring rain and thunderstorms to parts of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
Strong winds are also expected over the sea.
The sea may become rough, so conditions could be dangerous for boats.
Wind speeds may increase further by September 24.
The deep depression is expected to cross the north Andhra Pradesh–south Odisha coast on Wednesday night.
The India Meteorological Department said landfall is likely near Kalingapatnam between 8:30 pm and 11:30 pm.
The system was located about 60 km southeast of Kalingapatnam at 8:30 am Wednesday.
Heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong winds and rough seas are expected in affected areas.
Winds could reach 45–55 kmph, gusting to 65 kmph, and may rise to 75 kmph by September 24.
