Bihar: PMEGP brings turnaround in lives of Sheikhpura residents · thehansindia.com

The government of India has a program called PMEGP that gives small loans to people who want to start their own businesses.

A woman named Gauri Kumari from a district called Sheikhpura used to earn very little money working in marketing.

When she learned about PMEGP, she took a loan and bought sewing and handicraft machines to start her own shop.

At first, things were hard, but she worked hard and became successful.

Her husband, Lalan Pandey, used to run sewing machines in big cities like Delhi and Ghaziabad.

During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, he came back to the village and joined the business.

Now the couple earns a good income and gives jobs to about 20 people in their village.

They think that with more government help, they could buy 200 sewing machines and give jobs to about 200 people.

The couple thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said such schemes are a blessing for poor and unemployed people.

They are encouraging young people and women to learn about government schemes and become self-reliant.
