Pimpri-Chinchwad Records 1,781 Potholes During Monsoon; 628 Await Repairs

It has rained a lot in Pimpri-Chinchwad for two months.

The rain made many holes, called potholes, appear on the roads.

The city counted 1,781 potholes in June and July.

Workers have already fixed 1,153 of them.

But 628 holes are still waiting to be repaired.

Potholes are dangerous because bikes and bicycles can slip on them.

One schoolboy rode his bicycle and fell into a big hole filled with rainwater and got hurt.

Rain does not directly create potholes; it just shows where roads are old, badly built or not maintained.

Cars and trucks make the damage worse, and water that cannot drain away makes it worse too.

The city says it will keep fixing the holes whenever it stops raining.
