1,000 Riders Join Mega Helmet Rally in Karvetinagaram
In a town called Karvetinagaram, the police gave away one thousand free helmets to people who ride two-wheelers like bikes and scooters.
They did this to keep riders safe on the road.
After giving the helmets, a big rally was held, and one thousand riders joined to spread the message.
The District Collector said that about 350 people die in road accidents in Chittoor district every year.
Many of those people were two-wheeler riders.
He also said that hundreds more get seriously hurt in accidents.
Wearing a helmet can protect a rider and also protect their family from sadness and money problems.
A police officer and a leader told everyone, especially young people, that life is more important than speed.
They reminded everyone that wearing a helmet is the law and a way to care for your family.
Chittoor district police distributed 1,000 helmets free of cost to two-wheeler riders at Ammapalli Cross in Karvetinagaram as part of the 'Safe Chittoor – Your Safety, Our Responsibility' campaign.
A mega helmet bike rally was organised from Ammapalli Cross to Karvetinagaram Police Station with the participation of 1,000 riders.
District Collector Sumit Kumar said around 350 people lose their lives in road accidents in Chittoor district every year, including 150 to 170 two-wheeler riders.
Nearly 400 to 450 two-wheeler riders suffer serious injuries every year in the district, the Collector said.
Industrialist Madiraju Ganesh Raju Kumar Raju donated the helmets, while officials including SP Tushar Dudi and MLA VM Thomas urged riders to wear helmets and follow traffic rules.
