Karimnagar Rice Millers Seek Relief on Milling, CMR Problems
Rice millers in Karimnagar say they are having trouble processing paddy and delivering rice to the government.
They say some paddy produces too much broken or damaged rice.
They also say there is not enough storage space and that finished rice is not being collected quickly.
The millers want the government to set targets that match the rice they can actually produce.
They asked officials to count losses caused by rain, moisture, and processing.
They also want more time to finish milling and deliveries.
The group requested faster payments and relief from penalties and interest.
It said it will continue helping with government procurement and rice supplies.
The Karimnagar District Rice Millers Welfare Association urged the District Collector to address milling and CMR delivery problems.
Millers cited poor Rabi paddy quality, high broken rice and damage, paddy shortages, inadequate storage, and delayed CMR lifting.
They requested a separate boiled rice target, an actual-recovery-based OTR, and consideration of weather and processing losses.
About 2.5 lakh MT of Rabi paddy and 1 lakh MT of Kharif paddy are reportedly pending.
The association sought deadline extensions, timely payments, penalty and interest waivers, and lower-category electricity charges for eligible mills.
